If you're on the road, you might be on camera. A valley police department has new camera equipment to help them find stolen cars.
West Fargo police cars have a camera that records every license plate it sees. If the license number is flagged as stolen, a report pops up. Police have used the cameras to solve other crimes.
One suspect said he was not at a crime scene, but using the records from the camera, police had proof he was there. West Fargo assistant chief Mike Reitan says, "We feel excited to have it. Being the first in the state to have a system on a full-time basis."
Reitan says strict rules are in place on how the system is to be used by police. If officers are caught using it for any other purposes they could be fired.
