Concerns are growing tonight that the upcoming flood could hurt the next census. Fargo leaders say evacuations, coupled with trying to save homes, could hinder the number of returned forms.
So they are encouraging everyone to fill out their census form as soon as they get it to make sure the community gets the appropriate amount of money from the federal government.
Cass county commissioner Darrell Vanyo says, "Right now is the best time to get that form filled out, because we know that when the sandbagging starts and the water is here, people will not even take 10 minutes to devoting attention to something like that."
Census officials also say they'll be trying to keep their workers out of harm's way since many will be walking through neighborhoods that may be flooded.
