Bonanzaville acquired two new pieces of history today. Movers hauled an 1897 farm house and 35-foot grain elevator to the museum this morning.
The buildings were donated by Hank and Joyce Trangscrud of Kindred. The Bonanzaville board president says the buildings show how North Dakota farmers lived in the early 1900s. "We can teach kids -- third or fourth graders -- how farmers handled grain in the old days," says board president Sylvan Melroe. "This had a scale on it, early scales that used to measure in bushels. Now we can do it by weight, so it's got some history to it."
Melroe says kitchen utensils and old pictures from the house will be displayed inside.
