There is nothing left of a gas station/convenience store after it was destroyed by a fire. The fire broke out around 9:30 Tuesday night in Oakes, North Dakota at the Highway 1 Fuel and Service truck stop.
People who live in Oakes say they saw flames were shooting up to 25 feet in the air. Thankfully, no one was hurt. State Highway 1 had to be blocked-off, just in case flammable materials nearby went-up. Five people were in the shop when the fire broke out.
Travis Hayenga: "The front door opened, so I went and pulled it shut, then the other one opened, shut it then it started filling with smoke."
The state fire Marshall is trying to figure out what caused the fire.
