Local police say it's a crime they don't recall ever dealing with: thousands of goods taken in the dark of night.
Two semi-trailers were stolen from the O-K Tire store on Main Avenue late Tuesday night. One was loaded with $50,000 worth of tires. The second was empty and found a few miles down the road in West Fargo. O-K Tire employees say they think the thieves are pros.
"They knew what they were doing," said O-K Tire president Jim Ohnstad. "I'm sure they had watched for a long enough time to know when we come and when we go."
Sgt. Mark Lykken of the Fargo PD said, "I haven't seen it here since I’ve been here. Where they take a whole semi. This is kind of a big city crime. It's possible the suspects don't live here and are from the big city, and they thought, 'we'll target Fargo.'"
Fargo police say while this is the first time the city has been hit, this sort of crime is being reported around the tri-state area.
