The U.S. House approved a 1,990-page health care reform bill late Saturday night on a 220-to-215 vote.
North Dakota's Representative, Democrat Earl Pomeroy, voted for it, saying it's "an important step."
He said improvements have been made in the bill for North Dakota doctors and hospitals and it will be improved further in the Senate.
Minnesota's delegation was split on the vote - with four yes votes, and four no votes.
All three Minnesota Republicans - Michelle Bachman, John Kline, and Erik Paulson - voted against the measure, as did Democrat Collin Peterson. Peterson was one of only 39 Democrats who voted against the legislation.
Democrats Betty McCollum, Tim Walz, Keith Ellison, and Jim Oberstar all voted in favor of the reform.
